Backstage Beauty: London Fashion Week

The perfect pony being rocked on the runways at London Fashion Week...your go-to guide

Edgy yet feminine with a retro futuristic twist was the beauty buzz backstage at this month's London Fashion Week. We've been hanging out with the models at the shows to give you the lowdown on the coolest looks that are red hot right now! The thick fringe and high pony combo at Mary Katrantzou was a clear winner. Dubbed, 'Neo Geo', the look is easy to wear but has a high-fashion appeal that will put you ahead of the style set. Better yet, we have all the tips on how to re-create the look.

“Mary's designs are technically brilliant but with a feminine edge,” confided Eugene Souleiman, Wella Professionals Global Creative Director, who cut geometric fringes into the manes of the thirty-two models, before scooping hair back into a sassy high pony.

“There’s something very medieval about the short boyish fringes, the girls almost look like choir boys, yet when they turn around you get this beautiful, very feminine high ponytail that stands away from the head and swing as the girls walk on the catwalk,” adds Eugene.

Want to look like a supermodel? Superstar stylist Sascha Breuer is on hand to give you his top tips for getting this look at home:

1. Start with freshly washed hair. Rough dry and if your hair lacks volume dry upside down for the first few minutes to nail this uber sexy hair style. Next spray on some heat protection before straightening hair with Braun Satin Hair 7 Straightener. “The active ions restore the moisture balance of your hair so you can sport luscious healthy hair while rocking the coolest trends,” advises Sascha.

2. Apply a small amount of product, such as Wella Professionals Create Character to the mid-ends of the ponytail and lightly scrunch with your hands for added texture.

3. Either attach a clip-on fringe and pin into place or if you have a fringe use a versatile curling tongue, such as the Braun Satin-Hair 5 Multistyler. “Tong the roots of the fringe so it falls naturally away from the head,” suggests Sascha.

4. Brush through the fringe with Braun Satin-Hair 7 Brush with IONTEC to add a supermodel sheen and leave the pony textured for an on-trend contrast that's so this season! Simply spritz the entire head of hair with a light-hold hairspray and you're hot to trot.
